Matthew
Lori is a certified teacher who has been in education for over 30 years. The last 9 years she has taught middle math and Algebra I in both public and private schools, as well as tutoring Geometry. Lori tutors 3rd grade through Geometry students.
“I have had a passion for helping people learn since I was a little girl. I used to set up my animals and play school. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Washington State University. My first tutoring jobs were working for the college, while I was in college. While being a full-time mom raising four children, I worked part-time as a substitute teacher for 22 years in all content and grade levels in Evergreen SD, Hockinson SD, Ridgefield SD and Battle Ground SD. Once my children were grown, I accepted a full-time teaching position and worked at two different middle schools in BGSD. In 2024 I decided to move to private education, as well as starting my own tutoring business. I love having more time with each student to individualize their instruction, focus on each student’s particular learning style and needs, and really see them blossom as their understanding and confidence increase.”
Matthew is attending WSU Vancouver studying Computer Science. He earned top grades in his math classes through college Calculus IV. He has 3 years of tutoring experience and enjoys working one on one with students to help them achieve their goals. Matthew tutors Algebra II through college level courses up to and including Calculus IV.
“I come from a family of teachers on both my mom’s side and dad’s. I also love to explain things to people and break down concepts so that anyone can grasp them. I found I had a natural gift for math since elementary school and have continued to pursue greater conceptual knowledge, both in college and in my spare time. I have enjoyed working with tutoring students and helping them be successful in their math studies. I have also found it satisfying to be able to work with and help students with learning difficulties.”
